Paypal authorized a new policy (and quickly backed down from it) saying that:
Breaking the rule against misinformation and hate speech “may subject you to damages, including liquidated damages of $2,500.00 U.S. dollars per violation, which may be debited directly from your PayPal account,”
Let that sink in. If you said something they didn’t like (not an illegal act, mind you), they could take your money. Massive outrage ensued, and then PayPal said it was sent out “in error”.
