Ulta, Would It Be Too Much to Ask For You to Just Sell Makeup??

And not push an agenda on us?  Ulta, a large cosmetics dealer, has stepped in it big-time.

“Ulta may be regretting whatever marketing “genius” came up with this idea. In a recent post on Twitter, Ulta highlighted a podcast with two grown men in makeup and wigs chatting about what it’s like to be a “girl.” The makeup giant’s target audience is obviously women. It’s probably a safe bet that over 90% of Ulta’s customers are women. The choice to put men in drag in the marketing material for a company geared toward women is backfiring big time.”

This went over with their female customers like “poop in the punch bowl”, as we say down here.  The backlash was so bad they had to turn off comments in Twitter.  One of the best responses we saw was this:

If Ulta wants to sell cosmetics to men, I sure don’t care.  But stop telling me that everyone who puts on lipstick is a “girl” and this is all just perfectly normal.
