Why Southern Women Buy Easter Dresses

You need an explanation of why women buy new dresses?  You MUST be a Yankee.  No reason necessary.

The girl in the picture is not me, but it could have been.

White gloves, a hat, little socks with ruffles on them, black patent leather shoes, and the one thing I truly despised – those slips that went under your dress and made it stand out.  They always itched your legs terribly, AND got caught up with the ruffles on that might also be on your underpants, a real dilemma.  This is where young girls learn the lesson that if you look good, it’s ok to be uncomfortable as heck!
