Actually, this reminds me so much of my Dad. He was FOREVER giving Mom the kind of gifts she absolutely did not want, i.e., anything to do with cooking or cleaning. To make it worse, he would build the present up to her “You’ll be amazed at your Christmas gift, you’ll be so happy”. He was obsessed with gadgets, anything that shows up on the “As Seen On TV” ads. One of the worst Christmases I can remember was back in the 60’s when he gave her a “Veg-O-Matic”, 
one of the first of many Ronco Products to enter our house (and not be used by my mother). Not that it was a bad product, sort of a manual food processor…but I remember being scared she was going to stick his head in it!
Runners-up in this category were things like breadmakers – things she had absolutely NO interest in, whatsoever. To make matters worse, they got married on Christmas Eve, so they spent many happy wedding anniversaries with her not speaking to him!
At least he didn’t give her the “Duck Dynasty” Chia Pets – he gave those to my grandchildren! I just remember seeing them in a bag, and thinking “Oh, no!” Thankfully, the kids didn’t mind…
