Why am I beginning to sound just like Grandmother & Mother?

If I’ve said “What is this world coming to??” once in the past few years, I’ve said it a thousand times.  I’m glad my Grandmother is not around to see this world, because much more mundane happenings brought this phrase out of her, along with a solemn head-shaking and a “umm-umm-umm” sound.  I can’t imagine what today’s craziness would bring out of her.  But I catch myself doing this type of thing a lot, and always think of her when I do.

Or Mom’s idiosyncrasies.  For example, one thing that she really hated was either a cabinet door or drawer not completely closed.  I was corrected a lot for this, so I don’t ever commit this cardinal sin.  However, my husband has a habit of doing this.  It’s all I can do to not either correct him, or jump right up & rush to close the offending item.  I have a cousin who is unable to leave shoes that she takes off anywhere but the closet, because of home training.  (Mine are generally all over the house, but mom didn’t care about that sort of thing.)

And they are both up in heaven laughing at me, because I used to smirk & shake my head at both of them for “purse digging”.  Purse digging, if you don’t know, is the inability to get anything out of your purse, without going into every single compartment multiple times without finding the item, and then having to empty the entire purse out on the floor before you squeal “There it is!”
